Fight Tudor City Over-Development

Built in the early 20th century, Tudor City was created to provide affordable housing for the middle-class in Manhattan. Tudor City set the model for many developments to come, and still serves as an example of how to provide housing for average working-class people looking for a good environment to raise their families.

However, the proposed $4 billion project on the former Con Edison facility stands to devastate the life that many New Yorkers have been able to build in our over-priced, over-taxed city. This project will cover this quaint community with clouds of construction dust for years and obstruct the river views that residents have come to enjoy.

Our local community board is opposed to this project, and so am I. The City’s planning commission has ignored our concerns thanks to the intervention of our current City Councilman, Dan Garodnick, on behalf of the developers. And, while Republicans are usually known for supporting family and community values, my Republican Primary opponent is a landlord-friendly mortgage broker who refuses to address this mega-project.

As a local resident, unlike my opponent, I understand the value of preserving our community. I will work side-by-side with my neighbors and our local organizations to fight developments like this today and in the future.
