Keep Stuytown and PCV Affordable for the Middle Class

Originally designed as a place for veterans and their families to settle down, the thriving Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village communities are the heart and soul of the 4th Council district. To this day they represent quality of life at an affordable price for thousands of middle-class families, helping to keep Manhattan a place where not only the very wealthy and very poor can afford to live.

I strongly support rent affordability laws for the middle-class. We must continue to preserve middle-class family and community values in Manhattan, and provide the opportunity for average people to live and raise children in Manhattan.

There is no magic formula. The key to keeping Manhattan affordable for the middle-class is in controlling the cost of living, including rent. The sustainability of our community depends on preserving its neighborhoods, which means affordability for the middle-class.
